A Symphony in Steel – Girard-Perregaux Laureato in Sage Green and Midnight Blue
10 Dec 2024 · 1 min read

Girard-Perregaux, the storied watchmaking Manufacture from La Chaux-de-Fonds, introduces a compelling addition to its Laureato collection with two new 38 mm steel models in Sage Green and Midnight Blue. These new designs pay homage to the iconic Laureato aesthetics that debuted in 1975 and capture the delicate interplay of proportion and contemporary flair, aligning seamlessly with the expectations of modern watch enthusiasts.

Refined Elegance Meets Precision Craftsmanship

The 38 mm versions retain the essence of the Laureato and embody the Maison's commitment to aesthetic equilibrium. The octagonal bezel, a hallmark of the Laureato design, rests on a circular base, itself nestled within an angular tonneau-shaped case. The balance of polished and satin-finished surfaces seamlessly extends into an integrated bracelet engineered to conform effortlessly to the wrist.

This design refinement is underscored by thoughtful proportions that appeal to a broad audience, making these timepieces equally suited to men and women. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures clarity, while the interplay of lines and curves exemplifies Girard-Perregaux's design prowess.

A Palette That Captures Light and Emotion

The Sage Green and Midnight Blue models offer distinct characteristics while sharing a signature 'Clous de Paris' dial texture. This intricate, three-dimensional motif enhances light interaction, creating captivating visual depth. The Sage Green variant is complemented by a warm golden GP logo and matching seconds hand, adding a nuanced elegance. By contrast, the Midnight Blue iteration opts for a cool silver GP logo and central seconds hand, exuding a sense of sophistication.

Both colourways are harmoniously designed, featuring baton-style rhodium-plated hands and indexes treated with luminescent material for optimal legibility in varying light conditions. The inclusion of a colour-matched date window at 3 o’clock further demonstrates the Maison’s attention to cohesive detailing.

Precision at the Core: The GP03300 Calibre

At the heart of these Laureato models lies the in-house GP03300 calibre, a self-winding mechanical movement showcasing Girard-Perregaux’s dedication to excellence. This calibre, crafted entirely at their La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture, integrates 218 components and boasts a power reserve of 46 hours. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the GP03300 calibre ensures reliable timekeeping and durability.

A pink gold oscillating weight adorned with a circular Côtes de Genève motif serves as the movement’s visual centrepiece. At the same time, the bridges feature straight Côtes de Genève finishing, bevelled edges, and mirror-polished screws. These embellishments speak to the Maison’s no-compromise approach to horology.
