The Louis Erard x GoS Le Régulateur Celebrates the Beauty of Steel
17 Mar 2025 · 6 min read

In a landscape often defined by industrial precision, the Louis Erard Le Régulateur x GoS stands apart as a creation forged in craft and conviction. This collaborative edition marks a quiet but purposeful crossing of frontiers, joining Swiss mechanical discipline with the elemental artistry of Swedish metallurgy. The Le Régulateur x GoS is more than the outcome of a manufacturing exercise. It is a chapter in a longer narrative of mutual respect between two independent ateliers—Louis Erard of Le Noirmont and GoS of Linköping.

Brought together by Manuel Emch, who has championed Louis Erard’s creative reinvigoration, and Patrik Sjögren, founder of GoS, the partnership is rooted in an appreciation for the untamed forces of nature and the mastery of artisanal processes. With Damascus steel at its core, the watch reflects a Scandinavian reverence for texture and individuality, each dial a visual testament to controlled chaos.

Steel, Reimagined

The stainless steel case delivers crisp contours and quiet confidence, framing the dial’s organic complexity without distraction

At 39 mm, the case is presented as measured and contemporary, housing a canvas worthy of contemplation. Its form is familiar—polished stainless steel, domed sapphire crystal, and precise proportions—yet it frames a dial unlike any in the Maison’s archive. For the first time, Louis Erard embraces Damascus steel, not merely as a decorative flourish but as the focal point of its design language. Forged by blacksmith Conny Persson and hand-finished by Sjögren, each dial undergoes a proprietary treatment that deepens contrasts, evoking tree rings or striated stone—no two alike, yet all distinctly coherent.

Canvas Dial

With undulating patterns and deep contrasts, the Damascus steel dial transforms into something deeply tactile and quietly powerful

The Le Régulateur format, a longstanding signature of Louis Erard, is particularly well suited to highlight such craftsmanship. A central minute hand dominates, flanked by offset counters for hours and seconds at 12 and 6 o’clock. Chapter and hour rings in rhodium-plated metal provide structure, their satin finishes and chamfered edges introducing refined contrast. The hands, in GoS' striking blue tone, are sharply defined and thoughtfully scaled—functional indicators that simultaneously honour Scandinavian design traditions.

Beneath the Surface

A Swiss-made regulator movement, framed by smoked sapphire and defined by focused execution

Driving this horological canvas is the Sellita SW266-1, a regulator movement chosen for its reliability and clarity of display. The calibre is finished to an elaborated grade, featuring a partially open-worked rotor with the Louis Erard symbol in black lacquer—a discreet flourish visible through the smoked sapphire caseback. With a 38-hour power reserve and 28,800 vibrations per hour, the mechanical performance is quietly confident.

A Nordic Gesture

Raw texture meets refined design in a strap that speaks to the Nordic soul of the collaboration

Completing the piece is a strap in black salmon leather—a material rarely seen in fine watchmaking. It pays homage to GoS’s Nordic roots and reinforces the watch’s thematic ties to nature and sustainability. An additional calf leather strap with quick-release spring bars is included, offering both visual variety and practicality.

Final Thoughts

The Louis Erard Le Régulateur x GoS stands as a testament to the power of collaboration—where design becomes a conversation between cultures, and materials are given space to express their natural character. At a time when uniformity often prevails, it encourages a deeper appreciation for individuality, not as ornamentation, but as an intentional design philosophy.
