The Latest NOMOS Tetra Form a Quartet in Pink

Latest Releases
15 May 2023・2 MIN READ

Not one to shy from colour, NOMOS often uses their minimalist Bauhaus designs to explore various hues and tones. The latest Tetra models take on a distinctly pastel pink hue that is extravagance, squared.

Made in Glashütte

The German town of Glashütte has a watchmaking history dating back to the 1800s. Being a legally protected designation of origin, only manufactures that work according to strict rules in the 175-year old tradition of the watchmaking town are permitted to use this denomination for their watches, and NOMOS is one of the few who meet this strict criteria.

Four Sides to a Square

The latest set of watches from NOMOS take the square shape of the Tetra, with its compact 30mm case and hand-wound Alpha calibre, and plays with pastel-dominant tones and bold contrasts. As NOMOS designer Thomas Höhnel puts it, it’s an “adult color scheme revolving around the color pink”.

Höhnel, who is also a color specialist and interior designer, skillfully plays with tone, color and contrast revolving around shades of pink in this quartet of Tetra watches. It starts with Die Kapriziöse (The Capricious) that has a soft nude dial, silver seconds subdial and a contrasting yellow seconds hand, and Die Wildentschlossene (The Fiercely Determined) with its rose hue, silver sub-seconds and yellow sub-hand.

Then there is Die Unerreichbare (The Unattainable), its pink sub-seconds and turquoise sub-hand popping against the silvercut dial, and Die Fuchsteufelswilde (The Furious One) with its aubergine dial, contrasting gold sub-seconds and turquoise second hand.

The new NOMOS Tetra come on a grey vegan velour straps and pin buckle, a first for NOMOS. The 29.5mm square case of polished steel is topped with a sapphire crystal on the dial side. The case back can be closed or fitted with a sapphire crystal to appreciate the manual-wound Alpha calibre.
