Trilobe Introduces Nuit Fantastique Brume

Latest Releases
25 Oct 2023・3 MIN READ

The latest watch from Maison Trilobe combines its eccentric displays with traditional guilloché, as an expression of its philosophy of blending heritage with innovation. Available in three iterations, the Nuit Fantastique Brume seamlessly blends traditional watchmaking know-how with contemporary design.

A Tale of Opposites

Trilobe’s Nuit Fantastique collection plunges into the realm of deconstructivism. With a rotating hour disc on the periphery of the dial, its minutes wheel appears within an aperture. The seconds wheel alternates between a Clous de Paris guilloché centre and an azured ring. This new architecture disrupts the normal conceptions of shapes and their functions, inviting a free rethink of new geometries, atypical shapes, movements, and the resulting dynamism.

In the latest Nuit Fantastique Brume, the refreshed dial further challenges this reinterpretation of time indication. The relief of the dial on the Nuit Fantastique Brume takes on a Grain d’Orge (or barley corn) pattern, formed by interlaced curves with its invisible centre at the minute window. This choice is no accident: the barley corn is a classic guilloché pattern, and a further expression of traditionalism within an otherwise contemporary watch.

Carefully etched by expert guilloché craftsmen, the intricate interlaced curves of the Grain d’Orge is contrasted with the rectilinear patterns established by the Clous de Paris, the juxtaposition subtle and refined.

A Misty Pattern

The dominant hue on the new Nuit Fantastique Brume takes on a shade of taupe that dances between brown and gray. This elegant colour adds refinement with a touch of mystery, providing an ideal backdrop for the intricate guilloché patterns. The various angles formed by the manual rose engine-turned cuts appear to scintillate with different perspectives and in different light, living up to its name, brume, which means mist or haze in French.

The X-Centric Calibre

Trilobe’s watches are equipped with the exclusively designed and developed X-Centric calibre automatic movement. To achieve the unique time display, Trilobe’s manufacture partner, le Cercle des Horlogers, took on the technical challenge with an artistically offbeat approach, while perpetuating Swiss watchmaking excellence. A team of 55 expert craftsman embarked on 5 years of research and development to tailor-make the X-Centric calibre.

The 100% Swiss made X-Centric calibre achieves its patented display with three rings – the largest ring for hours, the medium one for minutes, and the smallest for seconds – that follow its own path, rotating in a counter-clockwise direction, without ever overlapping. The technical complexity of this movement is matched with its outstanding detail in the handmade finishes. Sleek, modern, and refined, the attention to the finishes, from the micro-blasted and wedged bridges and plates, to the hand-polished wedged ratchet, to the tints in Trilobe shades. Whether visible or hidden in the heart of the watch, this attention to detail makes this calibre a real artistic creation.

The Trilobe Nuit Fantastique Brume is available in three iterations. The Grade 5 titanium versions are available in two sizes, 38.5mm and 40.5mm, with 50m water resistance. For those who prefer further refinement, an 18k rose gold edition is available in the larger 40.5mm case and is water resistant to 50m.
