The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time has always stood slightly apart within the Patek Philippe collection — purposeful, legible, and distinctive. With the new Ref. 5524G-010, the model receives a subtle refresh: an ivory lacquered dial, paired with a khaki green strap, brings a lighter, more utilitarian tone to this modern classic.

First introduced in 2015, the Pilot Travel Time is characterised by its twin hour hands and day/night apertures — a setup that makes reading both local and home time intuitive at a glance. The 2025 edition refines this approach by softening the dial colour and adjusting the material contrasts. The result is a watch that retains its practicality, while offering a different rhythm on the wrist.

The 42mm white gold case remains unchanged in shape and size, with integrated pushers on the left for adjusting local time forward or backward in one-hour increments. These pushers screw down to prevent accidental changes and contribute to the case’s 30-metre water resistance. A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement within, while the profile stays comfortably under 11mm thick.

The dial is rendered in a smooth ivory lacquer with blackened white gold numerals and charcoal-toned hands. Local time is marked by a solid hour hand, while home time is indicated by a skeletonised counterpart — a visual separation that enhances clarity without clutter. The day/night indications are displayed through small apertures at 3 and 9 o’clock, while the date, linked to local time, is shown via a subdial at 6 o’clock.

Inside, the watch is powered by the self-winding calibre 26-330 S C FUS. This movement is known for its robustness and travel-friendly design, allowing the user to adjust time zones without stopping the balance. A stop-seconds feature allows precise time-setting, while the 21K gold rotor ensures efficient winding.

The strap is made of khaki green composite material, styled with a fabric-like texture and black contrast stitching. It pairs with a clevis prong buckle in white gold — a design inspired by aviation harnesses. While functionally straightforward, the strap choice contributes to the watch’s updated visual identity, making it feel a touch more relaxed and grounded.
The Ref. 5524G-010 doesn’t alter the core identity of the Pilot Travel Time, nor does it attempt to reposition the model entirely. Instead, it introduces a thoughtful update through its new colour palette and material choice. The ivory lacquered dial and khaki green leather strap bring a subtle softness to a watch that was previously more austere in tone, broadening its appeal without compromising its original spirit. It remains a highly legible, user-friendly travel companion—but now with a refreshed aesthetic that lends itself to a wider range of wear, from everyday to more refined occasions.
